Der Fotograf Steve McCurry fotografierte die Paschtunin Shorbat Gula 1984 in Afganistan. Im Juni des darauf folgendes Jahres erschien das Foto auf dem Cover von National Geographic. Seit dem fasziniert dieses Bild weltweit. Künster und Künstlerinnen kreierten ihre eigene Version. Sie müssen sich nur mal im Internet umsehen "Mädchen mit den grünen Augen" und schon erhalten Interpretationen dieses Bildes.
17 Jahre später machte sich der McCurry auf die Suche nach dem Mädchen und konnte sie auch unter einigen Mühen finden. Sie sagte, dass dies das erste Foto von ihr, dass jemals gemacht wurde und sie nicht sonderlich glücklich darüber war. Ich vermute, dass sie gar nicht weiss, zu welcher Berühmtheit sie aufgrund des Portraits wurde. Zu dieser Suche und auch ein neues Foto erschien im National Geographic ein weiterer Artikel.
Manche Bilder berühren mich so, dass ich sie im Kopf behalte. So entstand meine Interpretation dieses Bildes "Grüne Augen".

The photographer Steve McCurry photographed the Pashtun Shorbat Gula in Afganistan in 1984. In June of the following year, the photo appeared on the cover of National Geographic. Since then, this image has fascinated people all over the world. Artists have created their own versions. All you have to do is look up "girl with green eyes" on the internet and you will get interpretations of this picture.
17 years later, the McCurry went in search of the girl and was able to find her with some difficulty. She said that this was the first photo of her that was ever taken and she was not very happy about it. I suspect she doesn't even know what a celebrity she became because of the portrait. There was another article in National Geographic about this search and also a new photo.
Some pictures touch me so much that I keep them in my mind. This is how my interpretation of this picture "Green Eyes" came about.
